"Ghetto Fab"?

I hate to use those words but it kinda describes whats up. i grew up in the ghetto in B-more, and I would def consider myself ghetto-weave, huge earrings and all. The problem is, is my fiancee hates it. He grew up in a suburb and thinks that my look is trashy. He hates all of my shirts w/brand names on it, my big hoops and even my micro braids. We go to a pretty conservative, mostly white college and he wants me to dress to fit in more. How can I tone down my style without losing who I am? I'm lost when I go shopping now. Please Help?
