Would this be rude if I did this to someone at work?

I needed someone to work for me, I contacted over 5 people over facebook, text, and other friends. I finally found someone and I said thanks I owe you i will pay you 20$. Now i realized thats a lot of money just so he can take my place and make my money. He said its ok but I say I pay you anyways. Would it be rude to give him $10 instead and say I made a typo?
