Is it safe to get pregnant soon after an Iodine-131 treatment?

On 8/14/08, I received an Iodine-131 treatment for my Hyperthyroidism. My endicrinologist gave me informational brochures regarding the treatment and mentioned not to get pregnant within 6 months of the treatment. If someone should get pregnant before the 6 months are up, termination would be advised. Today, 9/22/08, I tested positive for a pregnancy test. My husband and I would love nothing more than to welcome our second child. We're thinking that we should see several different gynocologists/obstetricians and endicrionologists before abortion is even considered. I hope someone who has been in this situation can give us good advice! =[
